Instructor: Dr. Sjoerd Smeekens

Sjoerd Smeekens graduated from the University of Nijmegen in 1997. From 1999 to 2002, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry in Basel, Switzerland. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of Basel from 2002 to 2005 and then at the University of Freiburg from 2005, where he also directed the “Postgraduate Programme.” Smeekens obtained Swiss specialization in Reconstructive Dentistry in 2006 and German specialization in prosthetic dentistry and materials science in 2008. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania since 2009 and regularly lectures internationally. In 2010, he was recognized as a specialist in Prosthodontics by the European Prosthodontic Association.
